High courts in India

High Courts in India is the head of the Judiciary in the State. Before the High Courts were Established at Calcutta, Madras and Bombay. In course of time the other high court’s were established. As per the Article 214- There Shall be a high court for each State. After that according to the Article 231- Establishment of Common High Court for two or more States.

Important Points of High Courts in India:

  • Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh which have the Common High Court of Assam at Guwahati.
  • The Constitutional High Courts for Seperate Telanagana and Andhra Pradesh Came into effect from 1st January, 2019
  • Haryana and Punjab have their Common High Court at Chandigarh.
  • Goa is common under Bombay High Court.
  • Government of India has established three new High’ Courts in the North East of Meghalaya, Manipur and Tripura.
  • Government of India has established new High Court in the State of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati.
